Tofu Chicken – Vegan Recipe
Protein-packed, plant-based twist on a classic favorite.
Ingredients
- 14 oz firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Press tofu to remove excess moisture. Toss cubes with cornstarch, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium‑high heat. Add tofu and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove tofu and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining oil, onion, bell pepper, garlic. Sauté until softened, about 4 minutes.
- Return tofu to skillet. Stir in soy sauce, maple syrup, and vegetable broth. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning, garnish with parsley, and serve hot over quinoa or brown rice.
Health Tip: Using firm tofu boosts plant‑based protein while keeping the dish low in saturated fat. Pair with whole grains for a complete amino‑acid profile.
