Healthy Chocolate Tart
A decadent yet nutritious dessert that satisfies chocolate cravings with wholesome, plant‑based ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey)
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a food processor, combine almond flour, cocoa powder, and sea salt until smooth.
- Add melted coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and almond milk; pulse until a cohesive batter forms.
- Press the batter into a 9‑inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is firm but still slightly springy.
- Let the crust cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then lift out gently.
- In a blender, puree black beans, almond milk, a tablespoon of cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until silky.
- Spoon the bean‑chocolate filling over the crust until smooth.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set before serving.
Health tip: Swapping refined sugar with maple syrup lowers the glycemic index and adds antioxidants.
