Healthier Homemade Twix Bars
Enjoy a nostalgic treat with a nutrient-packed twist – chewy dates, wholesome oats, and dark chocolate, all in a single bite.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats (whole grain)
- 1 cup medjool dates, pitted
- ½ cup raw almonds, roughly chopped
- ¼ cup shredded unsweetened coconut
- ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips (70% cacao)
Instructions
- Line a 9‑inch square pan with parchment paper.
- In a food processor, pulse oats until lightly floured.
- Add dates, almonds, coconut, honey, coconut oil, vanilla, and salt. Pulse until a sticky dough forms.
- Press half of the dough into the prepared pan, flattening evenly.
- Dot the pressed dough with chocolate chips, then cover with the remaining dough and press gently.
- Freeze for 20–30 minutes until firm.
- Slice into bars and serve, or store in the fridge for up to a week.
Health Tip: Using dark chocolate and natural sweeteners keeps the bars rich in antioxidants while cutting saturated fats—perfect for a quick energy boost or a post‑workout reward.
