Natural Remedies for Cough, Phlegm and Mucus

Ayurvedic Herbal Blend
- Mix:
- 100 g Sitopaladi Powder
- 2.5 g Tankan Bhasma
- 5 g Praval Pishti
- Take ½ teaspoon of the mixture with honey.
- Also take Khadiradi Vati – 2 tablets twice daily.
NAC, Oregano and Garlic
- Some people use:
- N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)
- Oregano capsules
- Garlic tablets
- These are commonly used to help support respiratory health and mucus clearance.
Black Seed Oil and Honey
- Take 1–2 teaspoons of black seed oil with honey.
- Allow it to slowly coat the throat before drinking water.
- After about 45 minutes, drink warm or hot water.
- Before bed:
- Massage black seed oil onto the chest and upper back.
- Take another teaspoon of black seed oil with honey.
- Enjoy a mug of golden milk.
Fresh Pineapple Juice
- Fresh pineapple juice contains natural enzymes that may help break down mucus and ease congestion.
Oregano Leaf Juice
- Juice fresh oregano leaves and consume in small amounts as traditionally used for respiratory support.
Onion and Sugar Cough Syrup
- Slice 1 onion into a bowl.
- Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Cover and leave overnight.
- The liquid that forms can be used as a homemade cough mixture.
- Replace the mixture every few days.
- Traditionally used to help loosen phlegm and soothe coughs.
Cayenne Pepper Tea
- Add a small amount of cayenne pepper to warm tea before bed.
- Traditionally used to help loosen mucus and phlegm.
Steam Inhalation
- Boil water and carefully pour it into a bowl.
- Place a towel over your head and inhale the steam.
- Breathe slowly and deeply for several minutes.
- Steam may help loosen mucus and ease congestion in the airways.
Black Seed Oil, Selenium and Vitamin E
- Some people also use:
- Black seed oil capsules
- Selenium
- Vitamin E
- These nutrients are sometimes taken to support overall immune and respiratory health.
