Deodorant home made
Homemade Bentonite Clay Deodorant
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons beeswax pellets
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons bentonite clay
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- 10–20 drops essential oils of choice (optional)
Lavender, tea tree, lemon, peppermint, geranium, frankincense, or a blend of your favourites all work well. Similar recipes commonly use shea butter, coconut oil, baking soda and bentonite clay for odour control and moisture absorption.
Method
- Melt the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil together in a heatproof bowl over gently simmering water.
- Remove from the heat.
- Add your essential oils and stir.
- Quickly whisk in the bentonite clay and baking soda until smooth.
- Immediately pour into a clean glass jar or deodorant container.
- Allow to cool and set completely before use.
The mixture can set quite quickly once the dry ingredients are added, so have your container ready beforehand. Similar DIY recipes note that bentonite clay and beeswax help create a firmer deodorant while baking soda helps neutralise odour.

Sensitive Skin Version
If baking soda irritates your skin, reduce it to 1 tablespoon and replace the remaining 2 tablespoons with arrowroot powder. Many people find high amounts of baking soda can cause irritation.
Use: Apply a pea-sized amount to clean underarms with your fingertips. One batch typically lasts several months.
